Sliding Screen Door Repair in Tampa Bay

A sliding screen door that sticks, jumps its track or has a torn panel almost never needs to be thrown out. Most of the time it needs new rollers, a clean or repaired track, or new mesh. We come to you, find what is actually wrong, and tell you before any work starts. Quotes are free, and same-day repair is often possible.

What we fix on a sliding screen door

The patio screen door is the one everybody walks through, so it wears out first. These are the problems we see most in patio screen door repair:

  • A door that drags, sticks or scrapes when you open it
  • A door that keeps coming off its track
  • Rollers that are worn flat, cracked or missing
  • A bent, dented or sand-filled track
  • Torn, sagging or faded mesh
  • Spline pulling out and letting the mesh go loose
  • A door that won't close flush against the frame

Screen door roller repair

Most sliding screen doors that drag or lift off the track have a roller problem. The small wheels at the top and bottom of the door wear flat, crack, or seize up with sand and grit, and the door stops riding on them.

We replace worn rollers with new ones that fit your door, then adjust them so the door sits level in the track and slides freely. Sliding screen door roller replacement is one of the quickest repairs we do.

Screen door track repair and replacement

The track carries the door every time it moves, so a dented or bent track will stop a door even with brand new rollers. Small dents can usually be straightened. If the track is too far gone, screen door track replacement is the fix.

In Florida the track also fills up with sand, leaves and grit. We clean it out as part of every sliding door repair, and sometimes that cleaning is the whole fix.

Screen door rescreening and mesh replacement

If the frame is straight and the door slides well, a torn, sagging or faded panel only needs screen door mesh replacement. We pull the old screening, roll in new mesh with fresh spline, and put the door back on its track.

You can stay with standard fiberglass or switch to pet-resistant, no-see-um or solar mesh. Pet-resistant mesh is the usual choice when a dog or cat goes through the sliding door screen at nose height.

Sliding glass door rollers and track

Not every call is a sliding glass door screen repair. Sometimes the screen door is fine and it is the glass door that won't move. Its rollers sit inside the bottom of the glass panel and wear out the same way, until the door grinds or needs two hands to open. We repair sliding glass door rollers and tracks too, so one visit can take care of both doors.

When a new door makes more sense

A repair works while the frame is straight. If the frame is badly bent, kinked at a corner or corroded, new rollers and mesh will not make it close properly, and a new sliding screen door built to your opening is the better buy. We will tell you which one you are looking at before any work starts.

How a repair visit works

We come to your home. Send a photo of the door and the problem with your quote request, and we can usually tell you what it needs before we arrive. On the day, we check the rollers, track and frame, make the repair, and test the door before we leave.

We do this across Tampa Bay, including sliding screen door repair in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Brandon and Riverview.

Sliding screen door repair questions

Why won't my sliding screen door slide?

Usually one of three things: worn or seized rollers, a track full of sand and debris, or a bent track or frame. Cleaning the track sometimes fixes it. If the door still drags, the rollers are the likely cause, and replacing them is a quick repair we do at your home. Our guide to why a sliding screen door won't slide walks through each one.

Should I repair or replace my sliding screen door?

Repair it if the frame is straight. New rollers, track work and new mesh bring most doors back. Replace it if the frame is bent, kinked or corroded. Sliding screen door replacement means a new door built to your opening. We will look at the door and tell you honestly which makes sense, and the quote is free. Our guide to repairing or replacing a sliding screen door goes through the signs for each.

Can you fix a bent sliding screen door frame?

A slight bow can often be straightened. A frame that is kinked or bent at a corner usually cannot be made to close flush again, and a new door built to your opening is the better fix. A photo is often enough for us to tell which one you have.

Do you repair sliding glass door rollers too?

Yes. If the glass door is the one that sticks, we can repair its rollers and track on the same visit as the screen door.
